Today Saint Paul's Church is a vibrant and alive community church that offers a variety of programs for all ages. It has strong denominational ties and strives to uphold the covental beliefs and ministries of the United Church of Christ. The church is known in the Shelby County area as "The Church on the Hill".
Although the church has German roots and heritage, the modern day membership has changed. It is a diverse congregation with a mix of all ages from other faith tradionts; however, there are still a few families who are related to the founding members. There is a high degree of toleration, acceptance and consent for people who are different. Visitors find a warm and congenial spirit. The congregation believes it is a credible voice in the community, one that encourages wholeness, openness, education, fellowship and love of neighbors. It futher empowers and encourages its members to fulfill their ministry in mission to the Sidney community, the radio broadcast area in general and to the world beyond, giving God the glory.
The United Church of Christ as a denomination was formed in 1957 from what was once four (4) church bodies of the European and English Reformations: The German Reformed Church in American (Calvinist beliefs and tranditions), Evangelical Synod in North American (Lutheran, Reformed and other beliefs), Congregational churches (Puritan, Pilgrim and Congregational beliefs) and the American Christian Church. The U.C.C. is interested in uniting with church in fulfimment of the great prayer of Jesus Christ: "that they may all be One."
